Minecraft 1.19 the Wild Update is going to be the next big release and will bring a whole bunch of massive changes to the game. While some of things that will be available in the update are known, other things are still being revealed. One of these things is the new Froglight Block that has been added in a recent beta release. If you’re curious about what these are and how you will be able to get them, we’ll clear it up in this guide.

Froglight Blocks are currently only available on the beta version of Minecraft. You can learn how to join the beta via this guide on the Minecraft Help Center website.

Froglight Blocks

At the moment, to create a Froglight Block you will need to bring a Frog near a small Magma Cube. The Frog will then eat the cube and produce a block. The color of the block is determined by the Frog variant that ate the small Magma Cube!

Keep in mind that this is currently the way to get a Froglight Block, it’s possible that it changes in future iterations of the 1.19 release. As of now, getting a Frog to eat a small Magma Cube is the only way to get a Froglight Block.

The Froglight Blocks are true to their name and they emit quite a bit of light. They are a unique looking block, and there are currently three different colors, which are based on each of the frog types.

As mentioned, there are three different types of block: Pearlescent (Purple), Verdant (Green), and Ochre (Yellow). The Pearlescent will drop from a Tropical Frog, Verdant by a Snowy Frog, and Ochre by a Normal Frog.

These will obviously be pretty difficult to get in Survival mode when playing Minecraft. The current method would be to get a bucket with water in it and grab a tadpole. You could then bring that into The Nether and place it near where a Magma Cube spawner is located. These can be found in the treasure room of bastions.

One nice thing about this process is that the Frog will not die when it eats the small Magma Cube. That way you don’t have to worry about hurting your frog friends.

That’s everything you need to know about getting a Froglight Block Minecraft! We have more coverage of the game in the Minecraft section of our website.
