This creature is found in the Rogue Wave Reef on Natsukodachi Isle. The game describes this Kemono as a particularlly intelligent beast as it uses almost “karakuri-like structures” in battle.

To swiftly take down a Mighty Gritdog, you want to focus attacks to its head and body, where it is weaker, while using Elemental Lantern and Spring Karakuri to navigate the battle.
