New World is the newly released MMO by Amazon Games Studios that will take you into the exploration of a fictional land that was is based off of the Americas. You will be looking to harvest resources, craft items, get control of settlements, complete quests, explore, PVP, or fight off monsters. As you head into this dangerous world, you will need to know how to get yourself some Iron Ore for smelting. We’ll show you how in this guide.
Iron Ore Guide
To get Iron Ore in New World, you will need to get yourself a pickaxe. This can be crafted at a workshop that are located at pretty much any settlement in the game. Once you have your trusty pickaxe, you will need to head out in search of an Iron Vein.
These are generally close to rocky formations that can be found across the land. Iron Veins aren’t particularly rare, but if you are in a highly populated area, you might run into competition for them. You can find a variety of these not too far from where you start out in the game. There’s some nice spawns south of Grenville and Windsward Haven.

When you’ve located an Iron Vein, you can then interact with it to start mining. As long as you have your pickaxe in your inventory, you will start mining it. You do not have to have it equipped, just on your person. If someone else is mining a vein, you won’t get anything from it if you attempt to mine it as well. It’s a first come first serve kind of process!
Once you’ve gathered up as much Iron Ore as you can carry, head back to a Settlement and look for a Smelter. There you will be able to convert 2x Iron Ore into an Iron Ingot. Iron Ingots are used in a variety of different crafting recipes, including various armor and weaponry. Not only that, you can use Iron Ingots to craft a bunch of different furniture for your home!
That’s everything we know about getting Iron Ore in New World. You will find details on a lot more things about the game in the New World section of our website!
