Dwarf Fortress might’ve just been released on Steam, but this follows two decades of constant development to get the game there. For many years this game was just a passion project, but with the addition of huge quality-of-life and graphics changes, many fans have been trying to survive with their first civilization. A big part of this is ensuring you have a constant flow of food into your storage.

Part of getting food is ensuring that you have plenty of seeds in order to grow your crops and turn those into more refined resources. Here’s all the information you need to know about how to get more Plump Helmet seeds in Dwarf Fortress.

Where to get more Plump Helmet seeds in Dwarf Fortress

The easiest way to get Plump Helmet seeds is to process the Plump Helmet mushrooms that you currently have in storage. You can also eat them for a chance of seeds, but turning them into better resources has a higher chance of spawning seeds. There are other methods you can use to get Plump Helmet seeds and they include:

  • Eat raw Plump Helmets: As long as Dwarves eat the mushrooms, it will leave behind the spawn, which works as the seed, and your citizens will carry this over to the farm.
  • Brew them into alcohol: If you brew the Plump Helmets into alcohol, this works as processing them through the Still and will leave behind a Drinks resource as well as the seeds.
  • Trading for seeds: While not something you can rely on, traders can help you stock up on seeds when they come to your base. Ensure you have a Trade Depot near your Fort’s entrance and a Broker assigned to trade.

These are the best ways to get seeds. As long as you have a constant flow of people eating or processing the seeds, you’ll never run out. It’s easy to run out, so make sure that you have some of your Dwarves constantly working the farm and processing the plants into food and alcohol.

Many of these methods also work for other seeds, with some having the bonus of being able to be processed at the Farmer’s workshop. As long as you’re continuing to use the plants, you’ll never have to worry about running out of seeds. Be aware that it can be hard to plant during the winter, so make sure that you have food stocked up.

That’s all the information you need to know about Plump Helmet seeds in the game. Be sure to head to the Dwarf Fortress section of our website for more detailed guides.
