Pokemon Legends: Arceus (PLA) is a new take on the classic franchise of catching and raising pocket monsters. In this game, you will be open to explore the untamed wilderness and interact with wild Pokemon. There is a learning curve to this due to the pretty significant differences that this game has compared to previous ones. If one of the questions you have is how to get a Piplup, then we’ll show you exactly where you need to go to get this popular Pokemon!
Piplup Guide
Piplup was one of the three starter Pokemon of Sinnoh, and appeared in Diamond and Pearl versions of the game. These starters are quite popular with players who enjoyed them in the previous generations. If you’re a fan of this Water-type Pokemon, you are in luck because you will be able to get one in Arceus!
Where-to Find Piplup
To get Piplup in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you will need to head to the Cobalt Coastlands, which is the third area of the game. This is around the middle of the story, so you won’t be able to get one super early unfortunately. Piplup can be found walking around the lake north of Spring Path and to the west of Islespy Shore!
While it will be a lot easier to wait to get Basculegion to swim to the area, you can use Wyrdeer to climb the mountains to make your way over to the location if you want a Piplup sooner!

How to Catch Piplup
Piplup isn’t too difficult to catch as long as you stay hidden and hit it with a ball without it knowing you’re around. If you find that you are having trouble aiming your PokeBalls, you can engage it in battle and catch it the more traditional way.
Here are some additional tips on catching Pokemon if you are struggling:
- Throw a berry near the Pokemon you are trying to catch. This will distract them and give you a better chance of sneaking up on it. You can also use a smoke bomb in an area nearby the Pokemon to obscure their vision.
- Sneak behind the Pokemon and throw the ball at them! This gives you an additional bonus to your catch rate, on top of the one you get for not being seen.
- Use an upgraded PokeBall! There’s a variety of different PokeBalls in the game, and the higher level ones will increase your catching ability.

Piplup Evolutions
Piplup just requires that you level it up, and has no special parameters for evolving it. Your Piplup will evolve into Prinplup starting at level 16, and that will evolve into Empoleon starting at level 36!
That’s everything you need to know about how to get an Piplup in Pokemon Legends: Arceus! You will find a variety of informative content on the game in the Pokemon Arceus section of our website.
