The Fortnite Foundation Challenges have released, which means you can now unlock the Foundation Skin that is based upon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. While getting the skin itself is fairly simple, you will also have quite a few challenges to complete to get the rest of his associated items. One of these quests is to Hire a Character and travel 1,000 meters with them. If you want to know how to do it, we’ll show you how in this guide!
Hiring a Character
To hire a character in Fortnite, you just need to go to one of the NPCs in the game and pay them 95 Gold Bars to recruit them. This is only available from certain NPCs, but when you recruit them they will follow you around until they are eliminated. All you need to do then is travel across the map with them following you to get to 1,000 meters.
As mentioned, not every NPC you find on the map can be hired. The ones that you can pay to follow you around are Agent Jones, Brainiac, Jonesy The First, Cuddlepool, Shanta, Lt. John Llama, and Galactico. Here’s a map from Fortnite.gg that shows exactly where you will need to go to find each of these characters.
Just run up to the NPC, talk to them, and then select the recruit option. They come with a gun already equipped, so you just need to lead them around and hopefully avoid other players on your way to traveling. 1,000 meters can take a while, but can do it over multiple games. One way to do this faster is to jump in a vehicle and get out far ahead of them so they just have to traverse quite a distance to reach you!
