Announced last month, Chivalry 2 has finally come to Steam with a new update that adds a whole new faction and a new way to engage other players. Players can now spawn as horseback cavalry units as part of the Tenosian Invasion update. However, the game doesn’t tell players how to spawn with a horse, leaving many new and experienced players confused.
Horses have provided a new level of combat to Chivalry 2, with the animals charging at players from all angles. Hearing the sound of hooves rapidly approaching from behind you is a feeling second to none in a game that has already created some amazing moments. In this guide, we’ll show players how to get a horse and spawn as Cavalry in Chivalry 2.
How to get a horse in Chivalry 2
The first step is to make sure you’re playing in the new Tenosian Invasion playlist, as that’s where players can currently find horses. Once you’re in a match, you may see the occasional random pop-up in the top right corner asking if you want to be cavalry. Hit the requested button and you’ll respawn on a horse.

There doesn’t seem to be any hard and fast system that recognizes better players and gives them horses. Instead, the system seems to randomly prompt different players and give out horses on a first come first serve basis. Some players won’t even be prompted, and instead, they’ll spawn on a horse if they respawn at the right time.
If you do manage to spawn a horse, you should keep an eye out for enemy polearms. While it may seem like there is nothing to stop your horse, a well-positioned spear can easily bring you down. This works on the opposite side, and any players looking to stop horses should equip their best spear or another lengthy weapon.
That’s all players need to know about how to get a horse and spawn as Cavalry in Chivalry 2.
