Forspoken is an action-based, role-playing game, which follows the journey of Frey, a New Yorker who has been transported to the stunning, yet torturous, land of Athia, and she has to use her magical powers to cross the land and get back home. With Forspoken being an open-world title, you’ll have lots to explore in order and likely want to know how to unlock shaded parts of the map in the game!

How to reveal shaded parts of the map in Forspoken?

The map begins shadowed, and in order to unlock or to reveal shaded parts of the map, you will need to locate belfry towers. Once you interact with one of these belfry towers, the area around it will be revealed. A belfry tower is also known as a bell tower or steeple, so it is a taller, column-like building that may have a bell (or used to have one).

These belfry towers work as excellent ways to get an overview of the land near to them, too, as they offer Frey the ability to get higher up and see what else may be nearby this point.

You can also read books that you’ll find in Refuges, which are places where Frey can rest and craft items, and these books reveal more about Athia and will open areas of the map as they are read. Both belfry towers and Refuges are used as fast travel points.
