Holdfast has just released its newest update that has brought a whole range of changes to the game. What was once designated as a Napoleonic game has taken a significant step into the future. The game has released an update called Frontlines that brings players to the trenches of World War One. It has changed the game so that many players are logging in to enjoy. Not only has the game received heaps of new WWI machinery, character models, and more, there has also been a massive boost to its roleplay base.

This guide will show you how to use gestures in the Holdfast: Frontlines update to engage with other players on the battlefield.

How to Use Emotes in Holdfast: Frontlines

When you load into a match, hold the V button, which will display the gesture menu. These gestures are everyday wartime actions like cowering, surrendering, calling for help, sitting down, and more. You can also use a gesture to march, allowing you and your squad to be in lockstep with each other.

Other New Roleplay Features in Holdfast: Frontlines

As part of the gestures, players can play rock, paper, scissors with each other while they’re stuck in the trenches. Each choice has a dedicated gesture that counts to two before showing. This is sure to settle any disagreements about who the first man out of the trench will be. That won’t be an option in some cases because the officer class now has a trench whistle that will order your men onto the field. Once players hear that whistle, they can quickly utilize the new ladders to get into shooting position.

Classical music fans will appreciate the new additions to Holdfast that focus on bringing art to warfare. With the addition of the WWI content, Anvil Game Studios also added the addition of classical music instruments and a gramophone. Pianos, cellos, and the gramophone are played on the map for players to find and play.

Another new feature is that players can carry a flag across the battlefield to show patriotism. Not only will you move faster while on the battlefield with your flag, but you can also take the enemy’s flag and display it as a symbol of your victory.

As long as you press V and see the actions listed, that’s all you need to know about using gestures in Holdfast: Frontlines.
