Publisher Humble Games has just announced that Infinite Guitars, an upcoming rhythm RPG inspired by classic anime style, is finally going to launch on March 30th, 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Here’s the big announcement from Humble Games’ official Twitter feed:
Humbles Games and developer Nikko Nikko originally planned to release Infinite Guitars last December, but ultimately delayed the launch. Since a specific reason was not revealed, it probably had to do with simple polishing ahead of release:
Infinite Guitars is a pretty safe bet for fans of the rhythm genre, combining a lot of mainstream elements that also feel like a natural fit. Rock and mechs might have always meshed well, in everything from classic anime to vintage Power Rangers.
The anime art style and mechs are more colorful, vibrant, and accessible than some rhythm games, which generally tend to rely more on the music alone. Sometimes, the visuals are also far too simplistic, and don’t necessarily match the attitude of the music. Infinite Guitars has some playful art design that is perhaps a bit more creative than its mechanics.
Infinite Guitars certainly boasts a soundtrack that should keep the pace upbeat and fun. All of the trailer music released thus far has been inspired and satisfying on its own. It also happens to be completely original music, which gives the game more personality and consistency. Mainstream titles that let you explore popular songs are enjoyable, but it’s nice to have alternatives.
Since Infinite Guitars is also expected to release on Game Pass, per today’s announcement tweet, there isn’t much risk to try it out, so it’s likely to build a solid fanbase. Infinite Guitars could have relied on premise alone, but the content and soundtrack look breezy and promising.
