Hyper Light Breaker, the upcoming follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter, has been announced by the developers at Heart Machine. The original was a pixelated action adventure RPG in the vein of classic 16bit games, you will find that the sequel is a full 3D experience with much improved graphics. While you will be waiting until 2023 for the release, you can head over to the Steam page for the game and add it to your wishlist!

If you’re curious what to expect from the game, here are some of the details:

  • A world in disarray, with mysteries to solve, vicious enemies to fight, and fully 3D environments to explore
  • A vast, ever-changing world awaits with massive, open biomes and deep labyrinths
  • Use your wall-dashing, hoverboard, glider and more for incredible freedom across landscapes
  • Play single player or lead your team of Breakers through the Overgrowth in online co-operative play
  • Face hordes of enemies and gigantic bosses in frenetic third-person combat
  • Discover and unlock a wide arsenal of weapons and items to create the perfect build for every run
  • Learn more about the Overgrowth and the deep storylines hidden within with each death and subsequent attempt
  • Help a settlement flourish, bringing with it colorful characters and permanent upgrades
  • Visit the settlers between each run and discover their stories

Hyper Light Drifter was a rather well-reviewed title, so hopes are high that the follow-up game is going to be able to improve upon the blueprint that the original has left for it.
