HYPERVIOLENT, an upcoming horror and sci-fi FPS from developer Terminist Arcade and publisher Fulqrum Publishing, will officially launch into Early Access on April 6th, 2023.
According to today’s new trailer, HYPERVIOLENT will be available on PC via “Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and other digital stores”. There is no word on plans for console ports at this time. You can watch the full release date trailer on the Fulqrum Publishing YouTube channel here:
HYPERVIOLENT may be unapologetic with its nostalgia, but there is no denying that the game wears it with incredible style.
Fans of Doom and other classic 90’s shooters are going to get a real thrill out of how well HYPERVIOLENT mixes some modern sensibilities with those beloved visuals. It’s just a little smoother, and a little more complex, but in all the right ways.
It is always a delight to see how the latest developers celebrate and reimagine past eras of gaming. None of the enemy, weapon, or level designs feel like outright plagiarism. Instead, it feels like they could have actually released alongside 90’s peers. They’re creative on their own, though little nods like that iconic flooring from The Shining are fun, too.
Today’s trailer for HYPERVIOLENT has a terrific soundtrack, which really lives up to the attitude of the name. Its frantic beats and electronic touches capture all of the given genres, and hint at some fast-paced gameplay.
HYPERVIOLENT will receive two further updates during Early Access, but the full release plans to add cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, and even some PvP. That would definitely complete the experience. There have been countless homages to Doom, but this one has a chance to stand out.
