The Pixel Pulps Collection, an anthology of visual novels from developer LCB Game Studio, is officially getting a physical edition release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. While a release date has not been confirmed, a new announcement trailer teases it is “coming soon”.

The Pixel Pulps Collection is set to include Mothmen 1966, Varney Lake, and the new title Bahnsen Knights. Both Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake are available now on PC and consoles. Bahnsen Knights is an upcoming title about infiltrating a cult, and doesn’t have a release date.

Publisher Chorus Worldwide mentioned in a new tweet they have partnered with Funstock Games for the physical edition. You can watch today’s announcement trailer on the Chorus Worldwide YouTube channel, which also briefly teases Bahnsen Knights:

The Pixel Pulps Collection’s vintage art design is a perfect fit for a physical release. It would be great if special editions with some collectibles were available.

Many of these editions include an original soundtrack and art book, both of which would be enjoyable for any compelling visual novel. But LCB Game Studio has created an incredible world of fascinating detail, which has consistently proven a distinct understanding of many different influences.

Rather than relying on nostalgia, Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake both use retro concepts to support a particular vision. An air of mystery permeates everything, even as the devs explored a summer tale in Varney Lake, which we reviewed in full back in April.

Although fans of the first two games in the collection have had ample time to invest, a physical edition with a completely new title is surely worthwhile. It’s unfortunate that Xbox fans won’t get the chance, but digital versions of Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake are available now on the platform.
