Palworld, the upcoming monster-taming game with survival and building mechanics, has generated excitement among gamers waiting to explore its open world and capture strange “Pals.” However, many are wondering if it will end up on PlayStation, and we’ve got the answer below. Make sure to check out our guide on the possibility of multiplayer in Palword.
Is Palworld coming to PlayStation 5?
Currently, there are no concrete plans for Palworld to launch on PS5. The developer, Pocketpair, has confirmed this in their Early Access Launch FAQ, stating that they have no current plans for a PS5 release but will consider it during development. This means a PS5 version in the future is possible but won’t come for a while after the Early Access.
Why Isn’t Palworld coming to PlayStation?
There could be a variety of reasons for Pocketpair’s initial decision to bypass PlayStation platforms. The game is entering Early Access on January 19, 2024, focusing primarily on PC and Xbox Series X|S for launch.
This strategic launch allows the developer to concentrate resources on optimizing the game for these platforms and gathering feedback before expanding to others. Additionally, development costs and potential limitations of porting the game to PlayStation hardware could influence the current decision.
However, our main idea is that Xbox Game Pass may have had something to do with it. The developer is releasing Palworld day one on Game Pass, and that may have come with more money not to release it on PlayStation.
Will Palworld come to PlayStation eventually?
While definitive details are unavailable, Pocketpair hasn’t completely ruled out a PlayStation release in the future. Their statement mentions considering it during development, leaving the door open for potential PlayStation versions. If successful on existing platforms and the developer sees sufficient demand, a PlayStation release could become a possibility down the line.
Is Palworld coming to PlayStation 4?
Given the lack of confirmation for a PlayStation 5 version, a PlayStation 4 release seems even less likely at this stage. The developer hasn’t mentioned any specific plans for PS4, and focusing on current-generation consoles is more common for new game releases. However, even with a PS5 release, it’s likely not coming to PS4.
The game isn’t releasing on Xbox One, so we don’t imagine it will end up coming to PlayStation 4.
