Jagged Alliance 3, the action strategy hit from developer Haemimont Games and publisher THQ Nordic, has just revealed a new trailer announcing the game will release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. An exact release date was not confirmed, but it is “coming soon”.

Today’s new trailer is purely cinematic, so although it’s plenty of fun, it mainly caters to existing fans. While there are certainly more than enough previous trailers for console users to check out, it might have been more beneficial to provide a brief gameplay overview to strike interest. Console players can sometimes overlook trailers for games that are unavailable on their preferred platform.
It’s also a shame that Jagged Alliance 3 won’t be available on the Nintendo Switch, whose ports generally lag behind other console releases. The turn-based gameplay would be terrific on the go, especially with its particular pacing and 90’s-inspired style. Hopefully, there will still be a Switch version announced later on.
However, it’s a delight to see that Jagged Alliance 3 will be released on both current and last-gen consoles. That really captures the spirit of the online cooperative gameplay, which encourages players to check out the campaign together. Also, the open world action and graphics are definitely going to benefit from the technology of current gen consoles.
Jagged Alliance 3 is both nostalgic and fresh, with mechanics that borrow from comparable titles and establish enough twists of their own to satisfy longtime fans.
