Jurassic World Evolution 2, the hit sequel in the park management simulation series from developer and publisher Frontier Developments, just revealed an all-new “Feathered Species Pack”. The new DLC will be available next week on March 30th, 2023. You can watch a new teaser trailer for the upcoming pack on Epic Games’ official YouTube channel here:
Feathered species have always been a major request for fans of the Jurassic franchise. The film series doesn’t feature them very much, likely due to the massive success of the original. However, they do have a fun authenticity to them, and it should broaden the look and feel of the game.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 has done an excellent job of elaborating on its predecessor, which was also a hit. While the sequel could easily rely on IP alone for retaining interest, these regular species packs are both creative and well-designed.
Today’s trailer clearly states that it features in-game footage. So, the behavior and art style make the new species very appealing. Feathers are a complicated texture that could have easily gone awry. That’s especially true for a simulation game that prides itself on close-ups, details, and accuracy.
Fortunately, all of the tones, colors, and movement in the feathered species are very promising. It also happens to open the door to other colorful species in the future.
The selections for the upcoming species were certainly a nice surprise. There is a sturdy balance between some of the more popular options and more obscure ones. This way, your park feels like it has a little more variety than what might be expected. It also means that tending to the animals will also surprise the player a bit more.
