Kakegurui Twin is a spin-off series of the hit anime, Kakegurui by Homura Kawamoto. The spin-off series will focus on the protagonist Mary Saotome and is based on the popular manga serialized in Gangan Joker, which also runs the main story. The manga for Kakegurui Twin began in 2015 and is still ongoing.

In addition to creating Kakegurui Twin and Kakegurui, Homura Kawamoto is also known for his works Build Divide: Code Black, High Card, and Rengoku Dead Role.

Kakegurui Twin is set one year before the arrival of Yumeko Jabami at Hyakkao Private Academy. Mary Saotome is an ordinary, everyday girl who transfers to the school and transforms into a compulsive gambler.

Like Kakegurui, those who win these high-stakes games are rewarded with a high social status and extraordinary benefits. However, if you happen to lose, your status is reduced to “house pet.” On top of that, you are forced to do whatever demeaning tasks your classmates demand of you. For Mary, this is the worst possible outcome. Mary’s only hope is to survive, reach the top, and leave this school debtless. But she’ll have to use every last one of her skills and wits to make it possible.

The official announcement trailer reveals the official airing date and what fans of Kakegurui can expect from Kakegurui Twin.

In addition to the high-stakes gambling, this series shows Mary’s drive to establish herself and why she hates the student council.
