When Kentucky Route Zero was first released, many players were enamored by the overarching themes that managed to keep one foot in reality. Now, publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced a new version coming to Xbox Series and the PlayStation 5 on Aug. 17.
Annapurna made the announcement for Kentucky Route Zero: TV edition with a new trailer showing the beautiful scenes of the game in all their glory. The signature style is meant to evoke the same feelings as film and tv, following a story about debt and the effort to find community. Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
Kentucky Route Zero was first released a decade ago in 2013 and the TV Edition is a remaster of the game, collecting all five of the acts into one neat collection. The story follows a highway and the people who live along it as they go on their individual journeys, The beautiful scenes are accompanied by an electronic score and Kentucky-specific music by The Bedquilt Ramblers.
Players will be able to purchase the game on current-gen consoles as soon as next week, with the critically acclaimed narrative title likely bringing visual improvements over its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One counterpart. Previous updates to new consoles have included support for 60 FPS and enhanced image support.
