City-builders like Kingdoms Reborn are one of the more stable genres, with each new game innovating on the concept and adding new features, like co-op multiplayer. As of yesterday, players can now begin building a medieval city with a group of friends before quickly growing it into a monumental empire that spans the world.
The update was released yesterday alongside a video showing multiple players working together on a single village. It’s a very short trailer, just showing players working together to establish farmland, set up fishing spots, and otherwise work together to make sure that their village is prospering. It seems to be much more efficient with multiple people building the settlement all at once.
The co-op mode isn’t the only feature being added to the game, it’s just the main one that the update will be billed under. The other features in the update include things like:
- 34 Steam achievements added to the game
- New models for citizens representing individual cultures with unique appearances
- No Card Draw mode that removes the more random aspects from the game
- The new “Abandon City” option lets you restart a civilization without going to the main menu
- There is now AI dialogue between the bots, allowing for “dynamic dialogues”
Players who’ve yet to purchase the title can get it for a 20 percent discount during the Steam Summer Sale 2023, which is running until July 14. The game has received consistent updates since it was released in November 2020, evolving Kingdoms Reborn in ways that no one would’ve guessed.
