After an extensive tenure of 20 years, Lawrence Hryb, better known to the gaming community by his Xbox Live Gamertag, “Major Nelson,” has decided to step away from his role as a Director of Programming for the Microsoft gaming network, Xbox Live.

Hryb expressed his gratitude for the memorable journey in his announcement, “After 20 incredible years, I have decided to take a step back and work on the next chapter of my career. As I take a moment and think about all we have done together, I want to thank the millions of gamers around the world who have included me as part of their lives.”

Known for his direct engagement with Xbox customers, Hryb’s departure marks the end of an era. He continued, “Also, thanks to Xbox team members for trusting me to have a direct dialogue with our customers. The future is bright for Xbox and as a gamer, I am excited to see the evolution.”

Perhaps the most notable aspect of Hryb’s involvement with Xbox has been his weekly podcast, “Major Nelson Radio.” The podcast has been a regular source of interviews and game-related discussions direct from the Microsoft Xbox team. Hryb discussed a range of topics from gaming industry insights to the latest tech gadgets.

In line with Hryb’s departure, the podcast is set to undergo changes as well. In his statement, Hryb mentioned, “P.S. The official Xbox Podcast will be taking a hiatus this Summer and will come back in a new format.”

As Hryb embarks on his next chapter, he leaves behind a significant legacy at Xbox, having made remarkable contributions to the brand’s community engagement, transparency, and enrichment of the gaming experience.
