League of Geeks reveals Jumplight Odyssey, a colony strategy sim game, releasing on PC via Steam Early Access in 2023. In this game, you’ll need to gather survivors, repair and build your starship, brave black holes, and fend off attackers while managing the daily drama of handling a space crew.
The official reveal trailer showcases what players can expect from this roguelite game inspired by classic 70s sci-fi anime.
In this game, you’ll need to lead your crew on daring missions through the vast universe to escape to the Forever Star sanctuary. To escape the evil clutches of Admiral Voltan and the warmongers, Zutopans, you will build, repair, promote, defend, and grow. You also get to have a pet pig.
As the captain of the ship, you are responsible for the following:
- Taking care of the humans on your ship, from socializing, sleep, food, water, and air.
- A charming starship filled with a living grew who eats, sleep, works, and is trying to survive. You’ll interact with them as if they’re family, lovers, or rivals.
- The moods and ideas in the ship. They can be contagious, drama can fill the halls, and incidents can directly impact the crew. So you’ll need to keep the Hope alive or suffer the consequences.
- Exploring the different star systems. The different biomes have varying effects on your ship and crew.
- Managing issues such as fire, electrical strikes, radiation, and even loss of oxygen.
- Giving promotions to your crew members and running a tight ship filled with quirky personalities.
- Battling hostels trying to board your ship
- Exploring the galaxy, discovering new adventures, events, characters, and challenges.
