Pantheon has been struggling a bit in League of Legends’ ranked ladder this season, but fans of the defender of mankind need not worry. A series of buffs have just been patched into the game that turn Pantheon into a truly viable pick. In this guide, I’ll explain what these buffs are and how they help push Pantheon back up to a place of greatness.
Pantheon Patch 12.7 Buffs
In addition to changes to his base health regeneration, Pantheon has also received changes to three of his core abilities, including his ultimate, that drastically increase the champion of the star’s power. We’ll get into each of these ability changes separately, but first, here’s the full list of changes to Pantheon as seen in the patch notes.

As you can see here, the abilities changed in this patch are his Q – Comet Spear, E – Aegis Assault, and R – Grand Starfall. His W – Shield Vault is unchanged.
Q – Comet Spear Changes
This is one of the more straightforward buffs to Pantheon’s kit, and one that on its own is pretty powerful. The length of Pantheon’s Q stab has been increased, meaning that he can tap q and hit at a much further range than before. Paired with the increased cooldown reduction you get from tapping Q as opposed to throwing it, this serves as a major increase to Pantheon’s DPS output and gives him a better chance against ranged foes.
With this change, there’s really no reason to throw the spear anymore, unless you’re going for a kill that’s way outside of your regular range. Tap the spear as much as possible to make use of the enhanced benefits. Faster CDR = more spear taps = more damage over all.
This comes at a slight nerf to the width of his stab however, so you need to be a little bit more accurate with the ability cast.
E – Aegis Assault Changes
Prior to this update, when Pantheon used his E to gain invulnerability to all damage in the cast direction, he would be slowed when moving backward. This was to incentivize Pantheon to use this ability aggressively and to devalue its use as an escape tool.
This is no longer the case, and Pantheon now moves at full speed no matter which direction he moves. This is a huge change and my personal favorite, as Pantheon now has an incredibly powerful escape tool that he can use to disengage from a fight he otherwise would have died in.
While this is a great escape tool, don’t be afraid to still use it agressively. The best time to pop your E is right as the stun from your W wears off; The enemy, having taken a bunch of damage from you during the stun phase, is likely to want to chain a lot of their powerful spells right at this moment to make you back off. Using Aegis Assault here will effectively ruin any chances they have of winning the fight.
R – Grand Starfall Changes
The last and most subtle of changes to Pantheon comes to his ult, Grand Starfall. Pantheon now arrives at his target destination 0.25 seconds sooner, meaning he spends a little bit less time in the air.
While this might not seem incredibly impactful on its own, this means that you traverse the map faster, and the enemy has less time to react to your arrival, making it easier to land on top of them for that center of extra damage. Increasing Pantheon’s already massive map power in any way is a great buff, and I’m excited to see him Starfalling faster.
With the faster drop rate, don’t be afraid to aim for center spear landings on the enemy. You will still have to predict their movement slightly though, so don’t just point and click on them and expect them to stand still.
That’s everything you need to know to take advantage of Pantheon’s brand new changes! If you found this guide helpful, leave a comment below and check out our other Game Guides!
