Legends of Runeterra: Veigar Senna Darkness Control Deck Guide

Legends of Runeterra has a shifting meta, but some decks just have more staying power than others. In this guide, we'll show you how to build and play a Veigar Senna Darkness Control deck.
Lor Darkness Deck

Legends of Runeterra’s meta shifts with each new card expansion, but a deck that has been consistently strong since release is Veigar/Senna Darkness Control. This high damage spell-slinging deck makes use of the Darkness mechanic to control boards and win games with ease. In this guide, we’ll show you how to build and play a great Veigar/Senna deck.

Playing a Darkness Control Deck

The win-con to any Darkness deck is Veigar. Veigar’s ability to buff and spawn darkness makes him an absolute beast, and the deck is built around protecting him and spawning darkness so he can get his level up fast. Once Veigar levels up, you will be spawning a Darkness card in your hand every round, and your darkness can target anything — This is your lethal. At this point, your Darkness should have a ton of damage, and you can just target the enemy nexus or any cards that might try to attack you.

Keeping Veigar alive is key to being successful with this deck, and Senna is your best tool to do that. In that sense, we can think of this deck in chess terms; Veigar is your King, and Senna your Queen, equipped with a ton of utility to help keep the King alive.

Lor Game

Senna has the ability to place a Darkness card in your hand whenever she attacks, which is key for helping Veigar reach his level-up condition, but what really makes her strong is her ability to buff your spells. Senna makes your damage and kill spells Fast, meaning you can use Darkness in response to enemy spells and attacks. This makes it hard to remove any of your cards from the board because as long as you have a Darkness in your hand you can basically remove any attacker from play before it can do damage.

Mulligan for Twisted Catalyzer, Darkbulb Acolyte, Veigar. Play Veigar and Senna as early as you can, but don’t put them in a position where they’ll be removed if you can help it.
