Life is Strange, the classic narrative adventure series from Square Enix, has revealed in a new tweet that Life is Strange: Forget-Me-Not will be the next comic series.
Titan Comics and renowned creative Zoe Thorogood lead the new story. Fans can pre-order the first issue of Life is Strange: Forget-Me-Not beginning September 22nd, 2023. The comic will be available in stores on December 13th, 2023.
According to an official blog, Forget-Me-Not will feature Alex and Steph from Life is Strange: True Colors. The story follows them as they tour their band around small town America, and meet the mysterious teenager Lily, who is on the run and has familiar troubles.
For a reminder on the upcoming protagonists, you can watch the original trailer for Life is Strange: True Colors on the franchise’s YouTube channel:
Writer Zoe Thorogood aims for Forget-Me-Not to include “all the charm and heartbreak as the rest of the series”, looking to entertain both new and existing fans of the franchise. Given Thorogood’s reputation, fans should certainly trust them with the upcoming narrative, even with such high expectations.
Life is Strange has consistently balanced striking drama, which can even wander into the profound, with a careful sense of nuance and reality. It’s sort of a master class in magical realism, as empathy is given a supernatural context without losing its meaning.
The characters in Life is Strange are worth investing in, and the comics series that have been released so far have often successfully elaborated on the same compelling themes that made the source material so beloved over the years. It’ll be a delight to revisit Alex and Steph, and the premise about taking Lily under their wing is a clever tool to explore new sides of classic characters.
