The hit mobile fighting game Marvel Contest of Champions has officially posted full patch notes for the V37.2 release, including dates for some big updates this month. Baron Zemo and Absorbing Man will be the central villains that kick off 2023, Grandmaster’s Gauntlet will return, difficulty will get a big rework, and more. Here’s the official tweet from Marvel Contest of Champions’ feed:
Developed and published by Kabam, Marvel Contest of Champions has continued to impress fans for nearly a decade. This has been achieved through fun storytelling and a staggering volume of playable characters, boasting over 200 unique heroes.
The Masters of Evil are yet another great addition to the game. More casual fans may recognize Baron Zemo as the antagonist of Captain America: Civil War. Absorbing Man’s arenas and crystals will be rolled out on Jan 19th, 2023, while Baron Zemo’s content will begin on Jan 26th.
A highlight from today’s patch notes was the Eternity of Pain quest, which will be available on January 18th. Although some fans were justifiably annoyed about seeing Nameless Thanos again, Eternity of Pain will also introduce the new Haassenstadt fight stage.
There are countless superheroes in this game, so new stages are always noteworthy. Further, Haassenstadt castle is sort of a deep cut. The Witch-Queen Haasen isn’t really a mainstream character.
The difficulty changes for Events and Side Quests are a nice quality-of-life upgrade, clarifying and improving the existing system. They’ll be organized by “Threat Level 1-5”, and rewards will be adapted to correspond with the update. Between the return of the Gauntlet and Eternity of Pain, it seems that difficulty got a lot of attention for the new year.
