As if the Marvel IP isn’t already enough of a selling point, fans of the genre are ecstatic that Marvel Snap’s Chief Development Officer is Ben Brode.

Brode worked on Hearthstone, the undisputed champion of the genre, and he’s only one of many creators that ended up contributing to Marvel Snap.

Gameplay breakdown and details

The Marvel universe is basically endless, so it lends itself to CCG gameplay. But Marvel Snap focuses on speed, where rounds are only about three minutes by eliminating turns altogether.

That’s right, players will take action at the same time, although strategy is still important. You’ll only have twelve cards to choose from, making each selection play an even more crucial role.

They also have very unique abilities, drawing from authentic heroes and villains. The artwork will have variants to help deck-building feel more fun.

New cards are planned to roll out every month through new seasons, and there is no pay-to-win. Players can expect 3D visual effects during the game, as well as recognizable sound effects, voice lines and music.

The story is all about obtaining a “Cosmic Cube”. Players can “snap” during the game, but this doesn’t result in Thanos destruction. Instead, it doubles the reward at the last minute, if you feel confident about winning. Matches are played over three locations, and the goal is to win two out of three.

Be sure to support the Second Dinner, the indie studio behind this hotly anticipated game, by checking out their twitter here. Marvel Snap is actually their first game, so expect all their updates to be about this one.
