Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Insomniac Games have jointly announced the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5, set for October 20. Following the warm reception of Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, Insomniac Games has dedicated the past few years to creating this third installment. The sequel is designed to exploit the full power of the PlayStation 5 console, promising enhanced visuals, faster web swinging capabilities, 3D Audio, and swift character switching, leading to an immersive single-player, open-world experience.
The game allows players to immerse themselves in Marvel’s New York, playing as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The main storyline lets players control both Spider-Men at various stages of the campaign. Additionally, players can switch between characters almost instantly while exploring Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Each Spider-Man has unique stories and missions exclusive to their character.
The box art depicts Peter and Miles as key protagonists, surrounded by darkness, suggesting the threats from fan-favorite villains like Venom, Lizard, and Kraven. Their respective new abilities, Peter with the symbiote and Miles with his evolved bioelectric Venom powers, are represented through their arms in the artwork.
