Hero Concept has officially announced a release window for its upcoming retro-style roguelite beat ’em up title, Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds. This sequel to the original 2021 Mayhem Brawler, is set to launch in 2024 on Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.
Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds features a blend of ’90s arcade vibe and modern roguelite with RPG mechanics in a time transition-themed beat ’em up. In this game, players will explore parallel events in two time periods separated by two decades and embark on an adventure to uncover one of Mayhem City’s darkest secrets.
Back in July, Hero Concept shared in a dev blog some of its plans for Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds, detailing the features that set it apart from its predecessor. Hero Concept emphasized that two timelines exist in the Mayhem City of this new installment. The “Present” will focus on the story of Christina “She Wolf” Vasquez, while the “Past” will focus on Megan “Stellar” Gardner.
The game introduces a total of eight playable heroes, divided into two groups of four, in accordance with the timeline they exist in. Players will be able to jump back and forth between characters from both timelines as they face off against opponents of the past and present simultaneously.
Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds also features narrative-driven gameplay, allowing players to influence the story’s direction and the game’s progression based on their choices. The game also offers both a solo-play option and an online co-op option with up to four friends.
Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds boasts hand-drawn comics-inspired art, frame-by-frame animated characters, and engaging soundtracks. It also allows players to enjoy rich endgame content and a different gameplay experience with each new playthrough.
For eager fans who want to be notified as soon as Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds is released, the game is now available to wishlist on Steam.
