Konami has just released a big update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. The update addresses a popular fan request by adding a pause menu to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. This new feature lets players adjust audio settings, access the online manual, and return to the main menu without quitting the game.
The new update, Version 1.5.0, is now live on Steam. Players on PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles can look forward to receiving the patch later this month. Konami has also improved the rest of the collection, fixing issues with cutscenes and addressing problems with analog input controls.
What stood out to me was that they finally let you adjust your settings without quitting the game (thanks, Eurogamer). Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater now includes an ‘Additional Settings’ menu. This gives players more control over audio, screen options (on Steam), and mouse sensitivity on PC away from the Main Menu. It’s something we expect in games today, but if I recall correctly, it wasn’t the norm back when Metal Gear Solid 3 was released.
Konami has been on a bit of damage control over the game. They acknowledged that more issues need to be addressed, but they are going over them. It’s strange to see things that should be the norm get patched in long after the game is released.
“We will continue to provide regular updates on future improvements and fixes as further details are finalized.”

The update also addresses various minor issues within the games, such as correcting text, adding support for Steam Input, and making changes to prevent keyboard inputs when the Alt key is pressed. Konami has also removed the “Download” option from the main menu of the Master Collection and its bonus content and has adjusted the window mode for Steam Deck users.
