The Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater Remake, set to hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, brings back the iconic voice characters from the original 2004 PlayStation 2 release. This highly anticipated remake aims to faithfully reproduce the experience of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, inviting a new generation of players and devoted fans to revisit the legendary origin story of Big Boss and the pivotal Operation Snake Eater.
Offering a blend of a rich storyline and intricate combat survival features set in harsh environments, the remake promises a highly immersive gaming experience. Enhancements in graphics and sound, paired with the original voice characters, contribute to the appeal of this new release.
If all of the known actors for the game return, the following voices would be associated with their characters.
Naked Snake, also known as Big Boss in later games, returns with the voices of David Hayter and Akio Ōtsuka in English and Japanese, respectively. As the protagonist of Snake Eater, this former Green Beret turned CIA operative is assisted by several FOX unit members. These include Major Zero, voiced by Jim Piddock and Banjō Ginga, who provides mission advice and battle tactics; Para-Medic, voiced by Heather Halley and Houko Kuwashima, offering medical and environmental insights; and Sigint, with voices by James C. Mathis III and Keiji Fujiwara, giving valuable weapon and equipment information.
The game’s two primary antagonists also return. Colonel Volgin, voiced by Neil Ross and Kenji Utsumi, a GRU colonel with electric powers plotting a political coup, and The Boss, voiced by Lori Alan and Kikuko Inoue, Naked Snake’s former mentor, reprise their roles. The Boss also leads the Special Forces unit, The Cobra Unit, consisting of The End, The Fear, The Fury, The Pain, and The Sorrow, each bringing their unique abilities to the game.
Additional characters such as Dr. Sokolov, a rocket scientist voiced by Brian Cummings and Naoki Tatsuta, and Aleksandr Granin, a rival scientist voiced by Jim Ward and Takeshi Aono, contribute to the complexity of the storyline. The love interest of Snake, EVA, voiced by Suzetta Miñet and Misa Watanabe, is an American defector and KGB agent assigned to assist Snake. Adding further depth to the cast is a young Ocelot, voiced by Josh Keaton and Takumi Yamazaki, who leads the elite Ocelot Unit within Volgin’s GRU.
