Metroid fans rejoice! The team behind Metroid Dread, the latest title of the acclaimed and genre-defining franchise, revealed today, in an official post, that the game will be receiving a few new modes as part of the title’s second free software update, available today, April 8th.
According to the official post, revealed on the official Metroid Dread page on the Nintendo site, the new update will bring players four new game modes: Boss Rush, Survivor Rush, Dread Rush, and Practice.
All Modes Explained
While the Practice Mode will allow players to practice boss battles and sharpen their skills, the Boss Rush Mode will allow you the chance to replay all of the game’s main bosses in a series of timed battles. In true Boss Rush fashion, the damage you take in each battle will carry into the next one and so on.
For those who can already be called full-fledged bounty hunters, the Survivor Mode, which will become available after they complete the Boss Rush, is sure to prove itself as a challenge, as on it, players will need to complete all battles within a certain time, which will increase after each victory. In this mode, Samus’ health will not be restored between stages.
Last, but not least, we have the new Dread Rush Mode, only available to those brave enough to have completed the game on its utmost difficulty, Dread Mode. In this mode, players will have to face all bosses in a non-stop fashion. But that’s not all, as, just like in Dread Mode, one hit is all it will take to kill you.

Metroid Dread is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. So, what are you waiting for? Join Samus in her quest to reveal all the secrets of the mysterious and deadly planet ZDR in Metroid Dread.
