Miasma Chronicles is an upcoming tactical, turn-based RPG developed by The Bearded Ladies and published by 505 Games. In this game, players will go on a quest through a post-apocalyptic wasteland ripped apart by a ferocious entity known only as the ‘Miasma’.
In a new PlayStation.Blog post, James Cartlidge, Brand Community Manager at 505 Games, announced that Miasma Chronicles is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and EGS on May 23, 2023. Together with the announcement were a few sneak peek and discussions on the features of Miasma Chronicles.
Miasma Chronicles offers a gameplay experience reminiscent of PlayStation 1 RPGs, such as Xenogear and the early version of Final Fantasy. It is mainly a tactical game that will put the player’s skills and patience to the test, but it will also take them through a variety of environments, including small towns, sprawling forests, and massive industrial cities, where they will meet strange and wonderful characters as they progress through the deep narrative.
Miasma Chronicles follows the story of two unlikely brothers, Elvis and Diggs. Their mother left when Elvis was young, leaving a shattered heart, a metal glove, and a message to find her. Desperate of finding her, the brothers will journey across America encountering new friends and opponents with their own agendas along the way.
As for combat mechanics, Miasma Chronicles introduces two types of tactical experience; Light Tactical and Full Tactical. Light Tactical is designed to be an on-ramp for beginner tactical game players, with less focus on RNG and more changes beneath the hood to provide players with a more accessible tactical experience. Meanwhile, Full Tactical provides a full RNG tactical experience that experienced players will enjoy. In comparison to other tactical games, the Critical Hit chance is handled differently. Getting over 100% critical chance by manipulating weaponry, tactical placement, and upgrades, among other things, will result in additional damage.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, another turn-based tactical RPG from The Bearded Ladies, has been well-received by fans of the genre. As such, it is hoped that Miasma Chronicles will be as successful as Mutant Year Zero, if not more so.
You may add Miasma Chronicles to your Xbox store, PlayStation store, Steam, and Epic Games Store wishlist now to be alerted when it becomes available.
