Microsoft is teasing “important announcements and other Xbox news” for The Game Awards 2023, creating high expectations among fans and industry analysts. The company sent out promotional emails to Xbox users encouraging them to watch The Game Awards next week on December 7.

The tease of asking fans to show up to the Game Awards for more information makes sense. Last year there were a ton of world premiers – even some that were already announced but still had the name of ‘world premier’ – and we expected this year to have some too. At this point, The Game Awards are like what E3 used to be, and Microsoft is taking full advantage of that.

“Celebrate the year’s best games and the big winners live at The Game Awards on December 7 at 4:30 PM PT along with major announcements and more Xbox news you won’t want to miss!”

Microsoft

There were no hints on what this big announcement would be, but since it’s Microsoft and most games are already out from the company, it narrows things down. Our guesses are:

These are some basic guesses, but can you think it’s anything other than these? We’ve gotten a new Call of Duty already, and Blizzard already announced their next season. So those aren’t going to be big topic announcements. In my mind, the most likely is Fable and Starfield. My reasoning is that we’ve been waiting on more information for those two and Microsoft knows it.

The Starfield DLC has been anticipated since the game released, with so much of the game not told to players. Starfield teases Varun as a faction with more information for the entire game yet we received almost no information about it. The next DLC will likely touch on that faction more.

The other guess about Fable is that we’ve known Fable is coming for years, but a release date or window has yet to be announced. Fable is also one of the flagship games for the studio. If we can get a new game, it’d likely be Fable.

Since this industry is the absolute worst at keeping secrets, I’d guess that we’ll know about what the announcements will be far before they’re revealed. I won’t spoil it if I get the information early (we sometimes do to prepare articles) but I can guarantee clout-chasing micro-influencers will.
