Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom’s latest installment in the hit action RPG, has just premiered its last digital event today as teased last week. The event featured new details about the upcoming Bonus Update, as well as a developer’s roundtable reflecting on the series’ journey so far. You can review the full digital event on the Monster Hunter YouTube channel:
Bonus Update version 16 will be available tomorrow, June 8th, 2023. The last additional monster for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will officially be Primordial Malzeno.
Primordial Malzeno is a sensible conclusion for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and better represents the Sunbreak gen. Apparently, the original selection was Amatsu, an Elder Dragon that was first introduced many games ago.
Further, armor augmentation will gain new slots, and there will be new decorations. Version 16 will also have new paid DLC packs with different themes.
Versions 14 through 16 will also be released as a single title update on August 24th, 2023. New Event Quests will be available in-game until July 27th, 2023, to keep fans busy earning new rewards.
Today’s livestream closed with a lot of factoid stats, which is mostly arbitrary, but it does create a sense of community. Also, the devs also mentioned that next year would be the 20th anniversary of Monster Hunter, and that they plan to continue bringing “new and exciting games”. This hints that something big is in store for 2024.
Otherwise, the last event was relatively tame, and unfortunately did not include any new details about the future of the franchise. But there were plenty of thanks all around, and the developer interviews were lighthearted fun. They were full of humor and neat tidbits like scrapped ideas, creating a celebratory mood that will hopefully reward fans for playing so long.
