Moonstone Island, an upcoming creature collector and life sim from indie developer Studio Supersoft, has just released a new trailer focusing on their romanceable villagers. This includes gameplay dialogue and mechanics, showing how unique relationships can be built.
Moonstone Island hasn’t confirmed a release date yet, but it will be available on PC and the Nintendo Switch. You can watch today’s new romance trailer on publisher Raw Fury’s official YouTube channel here:
Moonstone Island has generated a lot of positive buzz, especially since the release of its demo last month. Perhaps one of the biggest selling points of the game is its surprising density.
There are a staggering number of unique islands to explore. However, the NPCs seem to have just as much character. These blend together to create something truly immersive. Today’s trailer focused on the characters you can build relationships with, and the mechanics are generally familiar.
You’ll have to make choices during key dialogue to get different NPCs to taking a liking to you. Players can choose to joke around or flirt at strategic moments to develop attraction over time.
Most games in the genre work this way, and it’s probably a little too simple. Fortunately, there are so many characters with their own unique tastes, that there’s plenty of variety and freedom. That will definitely be worth investing in for fans of the life sim genre.
Besides, although today’s trailer focuses on romance, it’s crucial to remember that Moonstone Island includes a very wide range of mechanics. There’ll be crafting, collecting wild spirits, and card-based gameplay. This could easily be one of the most well-rounded RPGs in any space, let alone the indie scene.
