Moving Out 2, the upcoming sequel to the hit physics-based moving sim from developer SMG Studio and Devm Games, will officially get physical copies thanks to Fireshine Games in collaboration with publisher Team17. The consoles will include Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Moving Out 2 and the newly announced physical editions don’t have an exact release date, but both are expected to launch this year. In addition to the platforms listed for the physical copies, the game will also be available on PC via Steam. Here is today’s image of the hard copies from Fireshine Games’ official tweet:
Moving Out 2 also released a gameplay overview trailer when it was first announced. Here’s the full trailer from the SMG Studio YouTube channel:
Moving Out was a surprise hit, thanks to its inventive stages and playful tone. It successfully transformed one of the most stressful possible activities in life into a cooperative adventure, with a gameplay loop similar to the likes of Overcooked.
The biggest selling point of Moving Out 2 is definitely the introduction of cross-platform multiplayer. This feature is very challenging to add, and remains somewhat rare. But cross-platform gameplay will line up perfectly with such a wide release, as all major platforms are getting a physical edition.
The covers do capture the colorful, upbeat attitude and larger-than-life thrills of the game. But it would be nice to have a special edition or two. The adorable art design and world provides ample opportunity for little collectibles, which you could then haul the next time you actually move. Last time around, the Moving Out “deluxe edition” simply included the expansions.
