The game has been making waves since the first iteration was launched, but now players can finally play My Friendly Neighborhood as it was intended. Developers John and Evan Szymanski have created a unique experience that’s meant to encourage players to engage with the characters and world of this frightening children’s TV show.
The game takes place on the set of the titular children’s entertainment TV show, where the puppets have come to life and taken over the broadcast. Traveling through detailed sets, players will have to dodge the friendly puppets as they come to life and try to hug you to death. As an old repairman, players will fight and shoot the puppets to ensure they’re down before tying them up for good.
The new trailer showcases the different sets that players can expect to travel across in their time as they struggle to overcome the threats and disable the broadcast. It’s game with a lot of inspiration from titles like Sesame Street, only dialed up in intensity while still largely remaining a friendly horror title for young teens and up.
Try Hard Guides was able to review My Friendly Neighborhood ahead of release. The title is filled to the brim with cute puppets and terrifying jump scares, with puzzles that will test the player’s willingness to run through the same areas repeatedly. While the concept behind the game is a solid one, it would’ve been nice to see it make an individual name for itself.
Players can purchase My Friendly Neighborhood is now available on Steam for a discounted $27 plus tax until Tuesday, July 25.
