Nacon, the publisher known for recent hit Steelrising and the longtime WRC series, has just revealed a new garden simulation game Garden Life from developer stillalive studios. Fittingly, Garden Life is expected to release in Spring 2023. It will be available on Steam, where players can wishlist the game now. Here’s today’s new teaser from publisher Nacon:

The first gameplay of Garden Life looks decent. Although the graphics are a little underwhelming, this is an indie game, and a lot of the best details about the game were reserved for the Steam product page. For example, there won’t be a traditional grid for placement, and players will be able to breed variations of each plant.

Instead of focusing on the features of the game, today’s trailer emphasizes the overall mood with slow pans and soothing music. There are also more than a few decorations, and hopefully there will be as wide of a variety in that regard as the plants themselves.

It’s clear that this is another simulation game that will invite players to relax, while also offering extensive responsibilities. Each plant is expected to be unique, requiring their own approach for a successful life. In that way, it’s fairly realistic, as you’ll need proper tools and techniques to keep the garden thriving.

This may not necessarily be the most revolutionary premise for the simulation genre, but there’s definitely an audience for this. Calming games like Lawn Mower Simulator or Power Wash Simulator all rely on the same appealing factors, such as busy relaxation and satisfying rewards.

But there’s a unique level of freedom that Garden Life has strived for, not just in the lack of a grid, but also in its gameplay. The idea is to let players get creative, and that’s a trait that many simulation games aren’t usually able to get around.
