Throne and Liberty, the latest IP from developer NCSoft in partnership with publisher Amazon Games, received its first world premiere trailer presented at the recent Summer Game Fest event. This upcoming free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game is set to launch for various gaming platforms, including PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, soon.
Throne and Liberty, previously referred to as ‘Project TL’ during its developmental phase, began as an ambitious next-generation rendition of NCSoft’s Lineage, known as Lineage Eternal. However, it was later revealed as an entirely new intellectual property with a strong focus on narrative-driven content and unique challenges that encourage cooperative gameplay. In this dynamic MMORPG, success is not dictated by a single predetermined path, but rather by players’ ability to adapt, make strategic decisions in PvP, PvE, or both, and overcome evolving battlefields impacted by elements such as weather, time of day, and interactions with other players.
Throne and Liberty has faced several delays since its initial announcement back in 2011. It was not until 2017 that the game transformed from Lineage Eternal into Project TL. Now, after years of anticipation, the game made its grand debut at the Summer Game Fest, captivating the audience with an impressive world premiere trailer. While the trailer did not delve much into gameplay, glimpses of intense fights and the ability for players to transform into various animals hinted at the game’s exciting features. The trailer showcased remarkable character design and stunning visuals, leaving a lasting impression on viewers, especially on MMORPG fans.
Although specific details about the game’s release date remain undisclosed, fans can anticipate more information to be revealed soon. NCSoft has announced that the registration for the upcoming technical test of Throne and Liberty is now open on the game’s official website.
