South Korean developer, NCSoft is working on an upcoming AAA title, expected to be released in 2024.
NCSoft Corporation is a video game developer and publisher based in South Korea. The company is best known for the massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) that it has distributed, including Lineage and Guild Wars. Recently, NCSoft unveils LLL, an upcoming open-world massively multiplayer online third-person shooter currently in development. Take a look at the LLL Official Gameplay Trailer, courtesy of NCSoft’s official Youtube channel:
NCSoft categorizes LLL as a sci-fi game, yet, it also has elements that make it suitable for classification under the alternative history subgenre. It takes place in a world that started with the idea that the history known progressed differently due to a particular event in the past. Project leader, Seeder Jaehyun Bae, said that he drew inspiration from the novels Foundation and Dune in creating the lore for LLL. “In terms of the subject of the game, I was influenced by the novels of Philip K. Dick,” Bae added.
In LLL, a devastated Seoul, the 10th century Byzantine Empire, and the 23rd century are all blended together in the same lore. LLL utilized Unreal Engine to work on advanced repairs, and the developers planned to continue to use the latest Unreal Engine to maintain it. Project leader, Seeder Jaehyun Bae, shared some additional details in addition to those presented in the gameplay trailer.
The difference between 〈LLL〉 and other existing NC games and Korean MMOs is that it focuses on giving each character specific characteristics. Each character has a unique name, and there is a background story that explains each character’s past and driving forces. Storytelling elements will be emphasized to show each character’s unique personality.
