News Tower, an upcoming tycoon game set in the world of 1930’s journalism from developer Studio Nul Games and publisher Twin Sails Interactive, has released a new gameplay trailer today. The trailer features an extensive overview of key mechanics, such as chasing stories, journalist transportation, building everything in your tower and more.
News Tower doesn’t have a release date, but Early Access is coming this year. It will be available on PC via Steam, where you can wishlist the game today. According to the Steam page, the devs plan on News Tower remaining in Early Access for six months to a year.
You can watch the “Newspaper Editorial” trailer on Twin Sails Interactive’s YouTube channel:
There are countless tycoon games these days, resulting in a lot of fantasy themes that help distinguish themselves from real competition. Just last week, we reviewed Blooming Business: Casino, in which players handle a casino full of anthropomorphic animals. Park Beyond is on the way in June, and showed off how it will deny physics altogether in a gameplay overview last month.
So, it’s always nice to see a fun twist on the genre that grounds things a little. Espresso Tycoon launches on PC next week, allowing players to build a coffee empire, right down to experimenting with drink layers.
However, News Tower has cleverly managed to combine both a grounded and fantastic approach by wielding a unique period piece theme. Today’s trailer showcases unusual challenges of the time, but the newspaper grind still feels relatable and intriguing.
The Steam page even mentions that players can choose how truthful their coverage will be. There is a delightful balance of innovation, freedom, and familiarity in News Tower that should really win over fans of the genre.
