The National Hockey League has recently unveiled its collaboration with Roblox, a global immersive platform, to launch NHL Blast. This experience aims to connect the worldwide hockey community through their shared passion for the sport, while attracting new fans with regular content updates. The game is designed to be easily accessible for audiences of all ages and locations.
NHL Blast, developed by metaverse development studio The Gang, transforms the traditional game of hockey. In this reimagined version, teams of five players face off against each other, striving to score points in fantastical, obstacle-laden environments. One such setting is inspired by the NHL STREET initiative. The game incorporates creative skating and innovative puck-shooting mechanics, allowing players to mimic actual NHL player movements on the Roblox platform.
Users can express their fandom and personalize their experience with a variety of options. For instance, players can wear jerseys of any NHL Club, complete with their Roblox username and a custom number. In addition, users can design their own goalie masks and view real-time NHL game scores on a hanging jumbotron. The Upper Deck Selfie Station enables players to capture photos of their digital avatars striking classic hockey poses, reminiscent of NHL trading cards.
