Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has finally introduced highly anticipated voice acting into the game, and confirmed which actors to expect for their pop culture icons.
Here’s the thread, which lists twenty-two actors that players can expect to hear in today’s free update:
Since the focal point of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is to cash in on the nostalgia of their IP, it’s been difficult for the fanbase to patiently wait so long for voice lines. Although this addition was confirmed some time ago, it’s finally been released on most platforms, excluding the Nintendo Switch.
Voice acting is what brought these characters to life, and one of the most crucial elements that makes them so recognizable and beloved. Modern fighting games from the last few years have even grown to focus more on character interaction, such as Mortal Kombat’s intro scenes for each fight.
With MultiVersus taking over the scene, it’s clear that All-Star Brawl felt the pressure to keep up with the competition. After all, the Nickelodeon game launched back in 2021, and interest has been waning.
In fact, the fan backlash regarding voice acting had to be directly addressed last April, and you can watch the lengthy YouTube interview about this problem here:
Luckily, the wait for voice acting is over. Fans have been very relieved to learn today that many of the original actors behind All-Star Brawl’s roster will show up. This includes Tom Kenny as Spongebob, although fans are naturally disappointed that they won’t hear Tim Curry for Nigel Thornberry.
For now, it’s unclear if there will be completely new voice lines for the game, or if most or all of the acting will be taken directly from the shows. Either way, this will completely change the feel of the game, providing an authentic experience that was clearly missing.
