On August 1, Nightdive Studios issued an update on the status of their remastered game, SiN: Reloaded. They announced that there would be a delay in the game’s release due to a series of challenges that impacted the development timeline.

According to the statement, the development team has been focusing on other projects, the completion of which has taken longer than initially anticipated. This has, unfortunately, affected the progress of several other games, including SiN: Reloaded.

“We’ve been focusing on other projects that exceeded the expected period of development due to reasons that have been stated several times until now,” the statement reads. “This, unfortunately, had an impact on some of our other titles, including SiN.”

While the announcement confirmed the delay, Nightdive Studios assured fans that the SiN: Reloaded project is still underway. “The project isn’t dead and we will continue to tackle SiN: Reloaded, but at a later date,” the statement reads.

The company also hinted at the possibility of changes to the project, although details were not provided at this time. “The project will also go through some changes which we are not ready to analyze yet,” they said in the statement.

Nightdive Studios and 3D Realms are collaborating on SiN: Reloaded, a remastered version of the 1998 shooter from Ritual Entertainment. The original game was a pioneering story-driven first-person shooter, notable for its rich character development, enemy design, and a robust arsenal of weaponry.

The remastered game revolves around the character of Colonel John R. Blade, head of a private protection agency. The antagonist, the CEO of SinTEK Industries, is altering human DNA and planning to create an army of genetically-engineered mutants. The narrative challenges players to confront the antagonist and her plans for world domination.

The remastered version promises an enhanced gameplay experience with a range of improvements. These include high-definition models and textures, support for wide- and ultra-wide video resolutions, and native controller support. Additionally, the game will feature restored and uncensored original game assets, as well as deathmatch and capture the flag multiplayer game modes.

The remastered game will also include SiN: Gold 2020 update enhancements and bug fixes. While the statement expressed gratitude for continued support and patience, it did not provide a new timeline for the release of SiN: Reloaded. It ended with a reaffirmation of the studio’s commitment to deliver an immersive gaming experience to a new generation of players.
