Nintendo has announced a mini partner showcase for June 28th, 2022, scheduled to premiere on their official YouTube channel at 6 AM pacific time.
Here’s the tweet from Nintendo of America’s feed, which explains that fans should expect around 25 minutes of footage:
This announcement confirms all of the rumors that fans were floating around yesterday, and it has definitely left most disappointed.
Nintendo is known for big reveals and updates in June, but everything has been scaled down this year. That’s because there was no accompanying E3, which basically pressures studios to deliver and communicate. Now, June’s direct has been reduced to third party announcements.
True, previous Partner Showcases have included anticipated titles before. There were more than a few that sparked interest back in 2020. Unfortunately, none of the biggest franchises will be included, so don’t expect any sequel news for Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey tomorrow.
This announcement comes shortly after the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 direct, released just a few days ago. It basically provided nearly as much footage, and also disappointed some fans, who were hoping for news about the larger titles that carry Nintendo.
But you can review the Xenoblade footage on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel here:
Fans of Nintendo have become frustrated with the company playing things close to the chest with many of their most anticipated titles. Basically, this raises concern about the progress and roadmap for Nintendo’s biggest games.
It also resulted in some pretty scathing responses, and without E3, Nintendo news has slowed to a crawl. However, some are still content with some of the expected third-party titles, like RPG hit Dragon Quest or the new release Mario Strikers: Battle League.
