Strangely, this showcase was simply uploaded outright rather than being held as a live event. This was likely to distance itself from the traditional giant showcase. However, there was a host of new announcements packed into the runtime.

Complete showcase breakdown

The showcase begins with a trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It combines both gameplay and cinematics, and teases the new “Seething” variant of the terrifying Bazelgeuse, expected August 2022 alongside a new location.

A roadmap clarifies that Monster Hunter fans can also expect free updates in August, Fall and Winter with new sub-species, special species and powered-up versions of familiar monsters.

Next up was an announcement for Nier Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition. It’s now available to pre-order today, while the game itself releases on October 6th, 2022.

Other new games coming to the Switch include: Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, a new Bomberman game, Pac-Man World Re-PAC, Blanc, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Little Noah: Scion of Paradise, Railgrade, RPG Time: The Legend of Wright, Sonic Frontiers, and more.

Returning games begin with another addition to Return to Monkey Island, Ten Megaman games will also be available on the Switch soon thanks to a legacy collection.

One of the biggest surprises was the familiar voice of GLaDOS, who is just as brilliantly funny as ever, as she sells the Portal Companion Collection. Fans are still waiting for Valve to count to three, so every Portal announcement since has been about as satisfying as GLaDOS’ cake.

Both Persona 5 and Dragon Quest showed up as expected, and that predictability more or less drove the entire showcase, outside of a few thrills.
