The Caligula Effect 2 initially launched for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam back in June 2022. Today, publisher NIS America announced to release The Caligula Effect 2 for PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023. Get a sneak peek at the exciting features of The Caligula Effect 2 in a new trailer from NIS America’s official Youtube channel:
The Caligula Effect 2 is a turn-based tactics JRPG set in a futuristic high school in which players take on the role of a student and dive into a reality-warping adventure. It features masterfully crafted story scenarios from Persona writer Tadashi Satomi and Director Takuya Yamanaka, as well as a pulse-pounding, Vocaloid-inspired soundtrack.
The events of the first installment, The Caligula Effect: Overdose, are continued in The Caligula Effect 2, in which a virtuadoll named Regret has created the world of Redo, a false reality, to free people from their previous regrets. While this world is false, the peace people find in this world seems real enough. However, this “paradise” is eventually shaken to the core when another virtuadoll named χ breaks into Regret’s virtual reality and restores a high school student’s memories of the real world. Within this new simulation, the Go-Home Club must band together once again band to fight against Regret and escape to the real world.
The Caligula Effect 2 introduces fresh faces of the Go-Home Club, whose memories are awakened by χ. The members of the club are in their “redone” forms, which they obtained by ignoring reality and undoing past regrets. Players may recruit other students to aid in challenging Regret and her Obbligato Musicians. Using the Imaginary Chain, players will be able to predict enemies’ moves and develop the perfect strategy, as well as utilize calculated techniques to obtain a tactical edge in battle.
Pre-orders for The Caligula Effect 2 are now available on the PlayStation Store and the NIS America Online Store. Those who purchased The Caligula Effect 2 physical edition from the NIS America Online Store will also receive an exclusive set of 4 Art Cards.
