How to Play NYT Colorful Strands
NYT Colorful Strands is a variation of Strands where the rules are exactly the same. What changes is the presentation: the boards get more visually interesting, editorially designed treatments.
As in Strands, it is a word search-style game and every puzzle has a theme. Letters can be used in any direction as long as they are not re-used or crossed, and theme words are highlighted once you find them.
One word, the Spangram, describes the puzzle’s theme and touches opposite sides of the board. When you have found every word, each letter in the grid will have been used exactly once.
If you get stuck, any non-theme word of four letters or longer counts toward a hint – for every three you find, one of the theme words is revealed for you.
