Oaken is a turn-based tactical roguelike from Laki Studios and Goblinz Publishing, officially available in early access.
The world of Oaken is a mythical place that cannot be constrained by space and time. It is stretched among the branches of the Great Oak. The inhabitants of the aptly named place are spirits that listen to the same voice, called the Oak Song. They also have a very Celtic and tribal aesthetic.
However, a tragedy soon strikes this beautiful world. Losing the Oak Song starts a series of events leading to a struggle that may either heal or destroy the Great Oak. It’s up to you to ensure that this wondrous place survives and the Great Oak endures.
Oaken is a roguelike game, meaning it is a subgenre of RPG games characterized by a dungeon crawling through levels, turn-based gameplay, and grid-based movement. In Oaken, you will perform individual, highly tactical battles on a hexagonal grid. Everything revolves around your position and rotation. You can even upgrade your spells and spirits the way you want, so you can customize everything to suit your preferences and gameplay.
What’s interesting about Oaken is that it contains a randomly generated world map with tons of levels, bosses, and events waiting to be discovered. As Oaken is a roguelike, it is easy to learn but hard to master. There are easy and challenging modes to ensure that Oaken is suitable for all players.
The minimum system requirements needed to run Oaken include:
- System: Windows 10
- Processor: 3.3 GHz to 3.69 GHz
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
- Storage: 1000 MB available space
- Other: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
