Online Services For Dark Souls Ii Scholar Of The First Sin Pc Have Been Reactivated

FromSoftware has finally revived the online features of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin after months of being terminated due to security problems.

Dark Souls II is the hit action role-playing game released in 2014 developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Games. It is the second entry in the Dark Souls series available for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game contains both player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) combat and is set in the kingdom of Drangleic.

In April 2015, a remastered version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin was published for PlayStation 3/4, Xbox 360/One, and Windows. It runs at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and boasts restored graphics with improved lighting effects. Meanwhile, the remastered Scholar of the First Sin edition uses DirectX 11 rather than DirectX 9, therefore save files from the previous version are incompatible with it. In January 2022, FromSoftware terminated all online services for the PC version of the Dark Souls trilogy due to the prevalence of hackers and security concerns.

Recently, Dark Souls has announced that the online features of the PC version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DX11) have been brought back online. This comes almost two months after the servers for Dark Souls 3 came back online and nine months after the servers for the entire Souls series were taken offline. In the meanwhile, the online feature of Dark Souls II for PC (DX9) will be added at a later schedule.

Unfortunately, developers of Dark Souls have come to the conclusion that they will not be able to support online services in the future for the PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, which was launched in 2012. The termination of support is said to be a result of an aging system. Despite this, work is still being done to restore online services for the PC edition of Dark Souls Remastered. In any case, Dark Souls will keep fans updated about when these services become available again.
